Meet Quiche (key-sh), our site mascot! Alright, so I know there/s really no reason for this particular creature to be our mascot, but she's so darn cute I just had to put her on the site somewhere! I came across her accidentally one day and I hope you guys enjoy her little face! If you do, hit the little like button!

Hello everyone, I have looked at the suggestions for the contest and have chosen the topic of this contest. I have chosen the idea suggested by me because out of the three suggestions its the suggestion with the biggest chance of variety. The topic will be an average wolf’s life with a big change.
The contest will be voted on and will also be judged with a point system. The entries will be scored on such:
Votes
Length
Realism
Members can enter more than one entry and their scores will be averaged. Each entry must have a title. An award will be given once I ask Kipxin.

Human
The wolf should have known better, with three years of experience as a loner she should have know about humans but something was enticing her forward as she tentatively placed her paws, one in front of the other, one in front of the other as her gaunt figure came into view, even from a distance you could count her ribs and it was sickening to watch the wolf so close to death cautiously approach, as the wolf named survivor by my organization approached the bait, as I sat there waiting with a tranquilizer in my hands, carefully watching the skeleton approach eying the meat, I was sitting there in the brush waiting, hoping that the wolf would get close enough, hoping but knowing the chances were slim. The wolf hesitantly glanced at the meat wistfully but scented the air first before taking another step, I froze knowing she would smell me, but the wolf was close to death and what I couldn't make her do the meat could and survivor took another pawstep towards the meat that had been left out, a roadkill caribou that we had taken, but before I could take the shot the wolf backed up, perhaps sensing something amiss, or more likely not liking the strange scent of the food, but as I felt her stony gaze go in my direction probably the former, the wolf lowered her head and I gripped my tranquilizer tighter, wolves rarely attacked but when they did they left the recipients wounded with scars that would never heal, but finally the emaciated form warily bent her head down to the meat and with an exhale of relief I shot the gun, and in an instant a snarl erupted then died in the wolf's throat as it drifted into sleep, the next minutes passed in a blur as my team descended from a helicopter and we conducted quick and systematic tests on the wolf, all of us not daring to speak, few of us had ever dreamed of getting this near a wolf, let alone a wild and free one, we were all silent as we beheld the beauty of the creature before us, she was a beautiful specimen at five foot in length from the snout to tail though quite light weight at forty pounds, though her blood and vitals were healthy, we transported her back to the lab in the next fifteen minutes, just in time to see the tranquilizer wear off and the entire team was amazed to see her awake, groggy but awake and to watch her for the next half hour looking at her in the confined space were she was being quarantined to further test for disease. Survivor in the end lay down and after circling (something wolves do so that they can get in a good positions so nothing can sneak up on them in response to the wind) chose a good spot and slept and even though the excitement was extreme it was three in the morning and the crew went to sleep satisfied that now at least the species canine lupus rufus would live on and I too returned to my cot satisfied and exhilarated.

I wake to a blurry world full of things that I have neither seen nor hear of, as I tentatively scent and smell humans, but my mind is too foggy to do anything about it, my strength seems sapped from me as I try to cling to life and I think that I scent food and water but I am too tired to eat or drink, after I circle on my wobbly paws I finally collapse in an undignified heap, too weak and tired to feel worried about the humans right outside my confined area, I awake and have no concept of time, simply a bright light above my head and white space along with that something hard that my teeth cannot penetrate that glints in the light, I am about to sniff my food and water before a human walks in and approached, I freeze in fear not able to do anything at first there is fear, I have seen humans, and they are able to kill wolves without even touching them I lay back my ears, until I turn to anger, what right to they have to imprison me, what have I done to them and it almost allows to me to fly at the man in rage, until finally I overcome my conflicting thoughts with curiosity as I gaze into his eyes trying to see what has allowed them to become better than wolves and if they really are better or have magic as the legends from coyotes and wild dogs say if you can get close enough. But my thoughts are interrupted as I try to drown out the screams and in-comprehensive language coming from another human, and the man leaves me to ponder my fate and I lay in a heap on the floor thinking about my future and death, before my mind drifts to the world that my slumber brings me, my sensitive ears back against my head to drown out the loud noises that humans make.

As I walk into the lab with an upbeat pep in my step I turn to the small cage and look at survivor and see she has gotten an early start to today as she eyes me with emotions flickering from anger and fear to curiosity and I empathize, I feel the same way, wary of the long canines that flash more white than ivory and some would say more deadly, but also fascinated by the creature known for being extremely cunning and intelligent and have spent my life dedicated to learning about wolves, but in particular the last few years the critically endangered red wolf, but my thoughts are interrupted as I hear shouts from the head scientist, head researcher, and slightly erratic boss, it was an honor for me to be admitted into this project and I love my job and my boss, my boss a fair and considerate person usually but passionate and slightly insane when it comes to wolves wasn't in a good mood and as I walk in and stand in the doorway I can hear why, I look back and I see some of my colleagues are intrigued as well as we tune into the boss' yells "I DO NOT THINK YOU CAN IMAGINE WHAT SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH A TRAUMATIZING NIGHT WITH LOUD AND NOISY HUMANS, ONE OF THE LAST TWENTY OF PURE RED WOLF FEMALES I WILL NOT SURRENDER HER TO YOUR ZOO BECAUSE YOUR POLLS SAY THAT IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR POPULARITY" and then the boss, her name is Carry, hung up the phone abruptly and said in a perfectly placid voice " the zoo just called to see if we would consider the placement of Survivor into their program and I declined" she paused knowing that we had all heard her "so that being said what do you want to do with her?" the team all looked at each other and suddenly the room was a buzz of suggestions but between them there were three main parties by the end of an hour and the entire lab had awoken one if favor of releasing her back into the wild with other red wolves to repopulate the areas (we had to move her because construction was about to begin on that forest, she was the only residing wolf there), some were in favor of turning her over to a breeding program (red wolves are endangered and females are highly prized in the facilities), and finally to keep her hear and hope that another opportunity to get a male appears and we could study them here, but either way the wolf Survivor will be a savoir of her species.
( are there any rules that we should follow?)

Snow world
I slid and slide across the ice, though snow covers it densely I have found it under the massive fluff, I settle though when I reach a break, my paws precariously close to the edge as I peer into it, before shifting my position so my shadow is no longer near, I scent the air for bear and also scan my horizon from old experience, I do not sit or lay where I am standing as I wait for the seal to appear, they always do if you wait long enough at the hole that gave me food, I peer into it for an untold time, one where my nerves are on high alert aware of the slightest movement, before suddenly the ice tremors beneath me as I begin to pace in wonder, should I wait or should I run, I almost paralyzed with fear as I tried to reason out an answer though my thoughts were mostly hazy, but in the back of my mind I tried to find a memory, I think this may have happened before but I am only two years old and do not have many memories of the world, so I push it back as I continue pacing wondering if there is an unseen enemy.

I pace, as I feel my world shift from under me, my pristine and perfect white world, I pause as I see water almost encircle me, and my white world, my chances to escape are now limited, now I have to move, I vaguely see my world run past me in a blur as I bound across the plain of ice, I am not aware of the biting chill as I paddle to the land, the solid world, as I try to imagine my life without the white going around me for weeks and days, as I try, and I fail, to see my life without this frigid air, biting winds, cool and distant sun, and without the ice, the perfect world, that before supported my weight and my life, that had protected me from this hard and far too solid land, as my paws finally reach it, I feel the grit getting between my toes and I wonder, would death under the rushing water be better than this as I go towards something distantly familiar somewhere in my mind, I tentatively thrust my nose towards it, its green with something red, its dead, though when I snap it off with my teeth it emits a bitter red juice that splatters across my nose, my white nose, now stained red, I sigh as I move on, and wonder if I will be able to hunt in this unfamiliar place. But I try to put on a brave front as I go deeper into my new world, my new colorful world.

Life is better now that I know how to live here, I can bound after a hare and catch it with ease, and when a sick or ailing caribou is near I can bring it down, I have learned how to catch a young doe and separate her from the herd then kill her swiftly, I have lived and come to know my world as beautiful, full of colors more vibrant than white ever was and now my coat always has a tinge of color on it that tells of where I have been and I always smell of my land of my earth, but now I see white flakes coming back to the ground as if my world is now falling from the sky again and I will wait to see if my world will return.
